Privacy Notice

This notice describes what data may be collected when someone uses this site, why it is used, and when it may be shared. Continued use means acceptance of these practices. Official websites and outside search providers apply their own privacy terms.

Information You Submit

A search entered in a third-party search box is sent to the company that operates that tool, not stored as a Westmoreland County government request. The provider may keep the query under its own policy. If a visitor sends a message through an available contact channel, the message, email address, and any details voluntarily included may be received and retained long enough to respond.

Automatic Technical Data

Web servers, analytics services, and advertising partners may automatically receive an IP address, browser and device type, referring page, pages viewed, approximate location, and access time. Cookies or similar storage can remember preferences, measure use, support security, and select advertising. Browser controls can block cookies, though parts of the site may then work differently.

How Information Is Used

Collected data may be used to operate and secure the site, answer a message, understand which Westmoreland County release resources are useful, fix errors, measure traffic, prevent abuse, and support relevant advertising or search features. It is not used to create an official jail, court, or VADOC record.

When Data May Be Shared

Information may be disclosed to search partners that process submitted queries, analytics and advertising providers that help operate the site, vendors providing technical services, or law enforcement and courts when a valid legal order requires it. Data may also be transferred as part of a business sale or reorganization. Personal information is not promised to remain private after it is intentionally posted to a public outside service.

Reasonable Security Measures

Administrative and technical safeguards are used on a best-effort basis. No internet transmission or storage method is completely secure, so absolute protection cannot be promised. Avoid sending sensitive identifiers that an official office has not asked for.

Visitors Under Eighteen

This site is not directed to children, and it does not knowingly seek personal data from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a child submitted data may use the Contact Us page to request review.

Your Privacy Choices

Depending on applicable law, a user may ask to access, correct, or delete personal data supplied directly to this site, or object to certain processing. Browser settings can limit cookies. Requests concerning data held by NNRJ, VADOC, a court, a search company, or another linked service must go to that organization. Virginia's Consumer Data Protection Act, Code of Virginia ยงยง 59.1-571 through 59.1-581, may provide rights when its coverage requirements apply.
